We went to Osaka and Nara for two days.
There is one of the largest ancient tombs at Sakai city In Osaka.
We looked the tomb from 21st floor of Sakai city hall.
I took this photo very near from the tomb.
This tomb looks like a forest.
Then we went to Nara prefecture.

Thirteen-storied Pagoda.
Main shrine.
Asuka temple.
Amakashinooka hill.
The view from the hill.
We found some flowers during the trip.
Lamium purpureum.

Common vetch.
Astraglus.
White dandelion.
Thanks for visiting this post.

I like the thought of a forest tomb. I wonder if 13 is a lucky number in Japan? People in the US are often superstitious about the number 13. Lovely wildflowers are blooming already! We continue to get snow.
ReplyDeleteDear Barb.
DeleteThank you very much for your comment. 13 has no special meanings at all. But usually odd number is lucky, even number is not lucky in China and Japan.
Dear Tomoko sama.
Beautiful pagodas !!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photos !!

This post is very interesting about Nara and Osaka which I missed going to these places. Now you have given me reasons to visit Nara again someday.
ReplyDeleteThe burial grounds of Emperor Nintoku is awesome and huge! It looks different from the Qin Emperor's tomb in Xian which I saw few years ago. Their terracota warriors are nearby too. Hope you can visit Xian one day as it has the most ancient sites in China. I will visit Xian again this coming winter.
Dear Twilight Man.
DeleteThank you very much for your comment. I want to see 始皇帝,大兵馬俑 in some future. I hope you will have nice time in China.
Earlier I mentioned Terracota Warriors which is the same as 始皇帝,大兵馬俑..! It is the most amazing historical relics unearthed. Besides that, Xian has got too many ancient sites and Mount Hua to explore. Have a good day Minoru San.
DeleteDear Twilight Man.
DeleteThe exbition of 大兵馬俑 was held in Tokyo. I only watched TV program about them. So I will check how to go there. Thanks again.
I've never seen a pagoda that tall, Minoru.
ReplyDeleteIt is really beautiful.

ReplyDeleteDear Yoko sama.
Thank you for sharing this Minoru....it's a fascinating place.
ReplyDeleteInteresting shots too!
