TOKYO WALKING, TO A BOTANICAL GARDEN.

We went to a botanical garden,locating at the suburbs of Tokyo.

東京都薬用植物園に行きました。



Walking through a thicket. 雑木林です。




Looking at Tamagawa Waterworks. 玉川上水です。

This stream would go underground.



Water Falls would appear from the ground.

甦る水の滝です。

Walking about 15 minutes, we arrived at the botanical garden.
There were many flowers  and trees there.


Meadow saffron. イヌサフランです。



Tamasudare. タマスダレです。



Shimobashira. シモバシラです。



A kind of chrysanthemum. シュウメイギクです。



Tabacoo. タバコです。


Toad lily. ホトトギスです。


Ilex latifolia. A symbol tree of Post office.

郵便局のシンボル、タラヨウです。


We can write letters at the back side of this leaf.

葉っぱの裏に字が書けます。 葉書として送れます。


Japanese Judas tree. Each young leaf would become a heart-shaped one.

ハート型した、桂の若葉です。



A fruit of lily of the valley. スズランの実です。



Fruits of Gonzui. ゴンズイです。



A fruit of Magnolia kobus. コブシの実です。



Tunogoma. ツノゴマです。



A dragonfly stopped at a woman's finger-tip.

アキアカネが女性の指先にとまりました。

  6. Absolutely beautiful collection of photos. From the steam and the waterfall to the flowers - just lovely. And that dragonfly is so small and delicate. How amazing that it landed and stayed for long enough to take a photo.

  7. This is indeed an interesting post today. It is awesome to know that the stream would run underground and appears as waterfall. So innovative of the Japanese, always.
    The flowers are pretty and attractive too. I am amazed by the name Meadow Saffron which looks lively but not in the orange saffron colours. The chrysanthemum is very cute and unique in white with few petals. Thanks for the new lessons today.

  10. 東京に住んでいらっしゃるから、さすが東京の穴場というか、観光客が訪れないような場所、詳しいですね。 あの林の中を散歩したら、清々しい気がします。 水の流れをみているだけでも、心が癒されそうです。シモバシラの花がかわいいです。トンボの写真はすごいです。 もしかして、奥様ですか? 大変良いポストでした(毎回ですが)。

      おはようございます。 ありがとうございます。 シモバシラは、冬に表面張力でで茎に水が上がり、それが凍って、霜柱にみえるので、名づけられました。
       トンボがとまっているのは、他の女性です。 トンボになりたかったです。

  22. あらら、Nippon Ninさんへのリコメント見て笑ってしまいました。水の音を聞きながら歩くと癒されたでしょうね。雑木林を眺めるとまだ夏のようですが、花や実は秋の様子。我が家ではタマスダレは8月末でした。シュウメイギクは今咲いています。葉書の語源がわかりました。実り多いポストです。
