ASAKUSA AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Asakusa is one of the most famous traditional and amusement town. When I went there, there were made-made New year's decorationwith cocoon shaped cakes at the both sides of the main street to the main temple.

Two cherry blossom trees were in full bloom at Sensouji Temple precincts.

 

境内では十月桜が満開でした。

Returning to Asakusa jinja shrine,there is a Shinto style wedding. A bride is just under the big umbrella,almost can not see.

Walking about 5 minutes,  there is a famous kitchen ware building.

SNOW MONSTER 2/2

The previous day,we went to Mt.Jizoudake to see Snow monsters which were lighted up.

前日、地蔵岳の山頂近くでライトアップされた樹氷を見ました。

Mt.Jizoudake is located in the near side of Siberia among Zao mountains. So we could see bigger snow monsters than Mt.Kattadake.

この山形蔵王の地蔵岳はシベリアに近いのでより大きい樹氷が見られました。

We changed two cable cars and went to the place where snow monsters were lighted up.

ロープウエイを２回乗りついで樹氷のライトアップされている地蔵岳の山頂近くに行きました。

On the way to the top of Mt.Jizoudake.Trees were covered with frosted snow.

 

途中ではまだ樹氷は上の程度です。

 

 

We arrived mountain top cable car station. We could see bigger Snow monsteres just outside the cable car station.

 

地蔵岳山頂近くで見た樹氷です。

 

 

 

They are look like 2 persons.

 

まるで二人の人間の様です。

 

 

 

The temparature was around minus 13°C. The wind was blowing about 20meters per second.

My wife could endure only 10 seconds outside.

 

気温は零下１３度位、風速は２０メートル位でした。

 

 

The biggest Snow monster around here. I stayed about 5 minutes in this place.

 

私はここに５分位留まり、写真を撮りました。

SNOW MONSTER 1/2

We went to look for snowmonsters at Mt.Kattadake in Miyagi prefecture. We went bus bus to the halfway up the mountain.

 樹氷を見に宮城県の蔵王の刈田岳に行きました。山の中腹まではバスです。

Then we got on this big snowmobile.

 

雪上車に乗り換えて。

 

 

 

We arrived this place. Here is very near to top of Mt.Kattadake.

 

山頂のほぼ近く迄行きました。

 

 

 

We found a big snowmonster, or  a oushirabiso tree covered by Rime ice.

 

スノーモンスターとも言われる樹氷とご対面です。

A TROPICAL BOTANICAL GAEDEN

There is a metropolitan tropical botanical garden in Tokyo. I went there a few days ago.

夢の島熱帯植物園に数日前に行きました。

A tropical botanical garden in Tokyo. I felt as if I were in a tropical island.

 

まるで熱帯の島に居る様な気分です。

Henri Rousseau's painting. He has never been in a tropical island. He liked to go to a tropical botanical garden in Paris.

 

かの孤高の画家と言われるアンリ．ルソーは熱帯の島には一度も行った事が無かったそうです。

彼はパリにある熱帯植物園に何度も通ったそうです。

 

If I would go this garden many times, I would be able to understand his feelings a little bit??

HEAVY SNOW IN TOKYO

Tokyo is terrible snow from this morning. It seldom snows here in Tokyo.

朝から凄い雪です。

I took this photo from our house.

WINTER PEONY

 I went to a Winter Peony garden at Ueno in Tokyo. There were many peony flowers are in full bloom.

 上野東照宮の冬ぼたん苑にいきました。

A NEW YEAR HOLIDAY TOUR

We went to Kyoto to enjoy new year holidays.

 年末年始にかけて京都に行って来ました。

A simple decoration for a Happy New Year in a hotel where we stayed.

 

宿泊したホテルに在った飾りです。

 

 

On the way to the hotel,we could see Mt.Fuji from a bullet train.

 

京都に行く時、新幹線の車窓から富士山が見えました。

 

 

Arriving at Kyoto,we went to Kamigamo jinja Shrine. It was the last day of the year.

 

大晦日のこの日、上賀茂神社に行きました。

 

 

 

The purification ceremony started from 4p.m. It means that Shinto priests would throw man-shaped papers into a small river.

 

午後４時から大祓式が始まりました。神官が人型の紙人形を小川に流します。

 

 

Each paper was written one's name and age who wanted to be purified from evil.

 

紙人形には予め自分の名前と年齢を書いておきます。

 

 

Next day, we went to Shimogamo jinja shrine as a first visit of New Year.

 

初詣は下賀茂神社でした。

 

 

There was a very big votive picture of a snake. Because this year is Year of the Snake.

 

舞殿には今年の干支の蛇の大きな絵馬が有りました。

 

 

Then we went to Heian Jingu Shrine.

 

それから平安神宮へ行きました。

 

 

We ate New Year lunch at a Japanese style ratraunt.

 

元旦の昼食は日本料理のお店でとりました。

 

 

 

Then we went to Ryouanji Temple.

 

午後は龍安寺です。

 

 

This stone garden is very famous. There are 15stones in this garden. But no people can  find all stones while they are sitting.  One or two stones are invisible.

 

この石庭に１５個の石が有りますが、座っているとどうしても全部の石を見つける事が出来ません。

 

 

 

On January third,we went to see five storied pagoda at Toji temple. we could enter inside of this pagoda.

Because it is special opens from January first to January fourth.

 

東寺の五重塔です。特別公開中でこの塔の内部を見て来ました。

 

 

 

Then we went to Fushimi Inari Taisya Shrine.

 

それから伏見稲荷大社に行きました。

 

 

 

The shrine archways are  called one thousand shrine archways, But actually there are more than 30 thousand shire archways.

 

千本鳥居です。実際には鳥居は３万基以上あると言われています。

 

We enjoyed this tour very much.
