SENJOJIKI CURL,IN NAGANO.

We went to Senjojiki Curl next day .

Curl means as follows, 20 000 years ago, bowl-shaped terrain that was shaved off in Ice Age ice.

We came here by cable car.

The cable car's station is located in 2612 meters above sea level, the highest station in our country.

There is the remaining snow on the mountain.

We could see some climbers on the ridge.

Kengaike pond.

We hiked around this mountain trail.

We could see many wild flowers along the mountain path.

Kurumayuri,different from a tiger lily.

Black lily.

Chinguruma grow in colony.

Chinguruma, or mountain avens.

Chiguruma's seeds.

Miyama Kinpoge or butter cup.

Shinano-Kinbai.

Kobaikeiso.

Hakusan-Ichige.

Hakusan-Chidori.

Takane-Gunnaihuro.

Aono-Tugazakura.

Umebachiso.

Miyama-Rindo.

It was very cool in Senjojiki Curl.
We enjoyed here very much.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. What an interesting post to learn the 20,000 year old history of the Senjojiki Curl that was being shaven off during the ice age! This is so amazing and fascinating that scientists are so smart to identify this theory.

I find this Kurumayuri Lily and Tiger Lily as very unique for its colours and shape. They are like lost and forgotten flowers living in isolated mountains until you shared their beauty with the world. You have such a kind heart and passion to appreciate the beauty of nature and its beautiful flowers! Thank you as always.

  9. More fantastically beautiful Japanese scenery, the alpine and bog wildflowers are amazing. It's great that you are so knowledgeable about them, I enjoyed seeing them. There is a similar Avens to Chinguruma in the USA, the flower is different but the seeds are similar, called Prairie Smoke, but it grows in dry conditions instead of wet. There is a similar alpine orchid here too. I enjoy seeing all the wild areas in Japan, they do such a good job of preserving them, and having cable cars to access them.

Thank you very much for your comment. These mountains are called Central Alps in Japan. It is said there are many similar flowers in USA and Europe. I will try to see Avens soon.

      最近、日本の方からアクセスが減って来て寂しいです。

  28. Minoru, I liked seeing this mountainous landscape. I believe we have a bit more snow left on our high peaks. Some of those flowers are ones I see on my hikes, but not the Black Lily which is gorgeous. I like that out were up so high the clouds were touching the mountain peaks!

    今日山陰旅行から戻りました。
    山陰、中国地方の山は低くて、東北、北海道の山々と随分違うのだと思いました。ドライブ中、minoruさんがポストされてた沢山の山々の写真を思い出しました
