  4. Hakuba village.
白馬 is white horse in Chinese.
Do we find many white horse over here?

Thank you very much for your comment. There would appear a white horse shape of the lingering snow on the mountainside in spring. The mountain would come to called Shirouma-Dake(白馬岳), Then the village woukd come to called Hakuba village. 白馬 is pronounced both Hakuba and Shirouma in Japan. OK?

  12. Breathtaking scenery - I imagine the air is very clean and clear up there. It's strange (for me) to see a hilltop lily field.......the blues and greens of the hills make the colours really stand out.
Lovely photos - thank you Minoru!

    Enjoy your week,
    Ruby

Thank you very much for your comment. These lilies are planted. But I think they are very beautiful. The lily season had been already ended. But they are blomming in the highlands only..

  13. Minoru, your photos always take my breath away! These are brilliant! I love that first photo, especially - what a dramatic backdrop for the gorgeous lilies!

Are those rice paddies in the photo looking down on Hakuba Village, or a different crop? What a beautiful place to visit - and to live!

I'm also wondering if all those varieties of lilies grow up there naturally, or if people planted them - or both! They're amazing - love the photo of the field of lilies and then all the individual closeups that show the variety. I think the hot pink one in the middle is my favorite (what a color!), but they are all so beautiful! How wonderful it must be to just stand among them all, breathing that sweet air and enjoying that magnificent view!

Thank you very much for your comment. I feel very happy you like my post. Yes,They are rice paddies. They will be ripened in autumn. Lilis are planted. Natural lilies are not many colors. There were sweet air and sweey scents in the highlands.
