A 1000 YEAR OLD CHERRY TREE.

Spring has come in North East Japan. We went to Fukushima for two days.



Taki-Zakura at Miharu.
 
三春の滝桜です。
 
 
It is said this cherry is around a 1000 years old.
 
樹齢は千年と言われてます。
 
 
Using a metaphor, it looks like Blossom Falls.
 
紅枝垂れ桜です。
 
Then we went to Aizuwakmatu city.
 
 
 
Turugajoh Castle.
 
鶴ヶ城です。
 
 
 
The moat of this castle.
 
鶴ヶ城のお濠です。
 
 
Next day.
 
 
Goshikinuma.
 
五色沼です。
 
 
Goshikinuma and Mt.Bandaisan.
 
五色沼と磐梯山です。

Mt.Azuma-Kofuji at Johdo Daira,  1600 meters above sea level.
 
浄土平の吾妻小富士です。

Then we went to Fukushima city.
 
 
 
Hanamiyama.
 
花見山です。
 
 
 
Hanamiyama too.

We enjoyed many things in Fukushima.
 
Cheer up people in Fukushima who are suffering from nuclear power plant accidents.

    What an amazing place to go to! It looks wonderful and the tree is unreal. Are there tiny people behind it in the first photo?

    That does look like Sazae-san. I can understand why they would do that.

      幸いにも、満開の日に行くことが出来ました。天気は曇り、桜の木の周りは囲いがして有るので、良い写真を撮れませんでしたが、圧倒的存在感を受けて来ました。
      　鶴ヶ城も八重さんのドラマで大変な人でした。

    What a beautiful old cherry tree! How wonderful to reach such a prestigious age. Lovely shots. I find it somewhat wonderful that you are taking photos of old cherry trees in Japan and I am taking photos of cherry trees in New Jersey, but I doubt that they are as old as yours. Also that what you call "Golden Bells" looks like what we call "forsythia" here, but by either name it is equally beautiful!

    さすがの三春の滝桜です。千年の風雪に耐えて、Ｇorgeous!
    冠雪の磐梯山と五色沼きれいですね。鶴ヶ城といえば、白虎隊しか知らなかったのですが、八重のさくらから（ＮＨＫの）いろいろ知り得ました。これから面白くなっていくのかな。

      　五色沼は前夜雪が降っていましたが、朝方晴れてとても美しい景色を見る事が出来ました。

    こんにちは、三春の滝桜は、まさに満開ですね。樹齢１，０００年の桜が変わらずに美しい花を咲かせてる雄姿を見ると、なんか神々しく、それだけで感動してしまいます。花見山の桜と菜の花の組み合わせもいいですね。ここは今シーズンこそ行ってみようと密かに狙っていた花見スポットだったのですが、満開と、休日がうまく重ならず涙をのみました。スミレのサザエさんも素敵ですね。素晴らしい写真を堪能させていただきました。

    　おはようございます。　天気予報は雨でしたが、幸い満開の桜を見る事が出来て感動しました。
    　夜中に雪が降り、浄土平でも雪と風に遭遇しましたが、どうにか無事に見物出来ました。

    震災のあった年、三春の滝桜を見に行こうと予約してあったのですが、キャンセルになりました。以来、まだ見に行く機会がありません。お写真で見てもやはりすばらしいですね。ぜひ見に行きたい桜です。ありがとうございました。

    I try to imagine what it would be like to stand underneath a 1,000 year old tree full of those beautiful blossoms. Absolutely magical! Your photos are truly a joy to see and thank you for sharing them with Today's Flowers.

    I think the people in Fukushima would feel cheer at the sight of your photos and I hope they will soon be able to experience peace and joy after such a terrible disaster.
