EBINO KOGEN HIGHLANDS IN MIYAZAKI. えびの高原

Ebino Kogen highlands are located next to Kagoshima.



Mt.Karakunidake. 韓国岳(からくにだけ)




Mt.Ioyama. Iomeans sulfur. 硫黄山。


It's difficult to climb the mountain,we chose the course of  visiting ponds.
It took about 2 and half hours for us.



Fudoike pond. 不動池。



Byakusiike pond. 白紫池。


Rokukannonmiike pond. 六観音御池。

We walked through Japanese red pine forest.


Japanese red pine trees. アカマツ。



There are many red pines in this area.

We could see many flowers during in this course.



Hainoki. ハイノキ。



A kind of azalea. ミヤマキリシマ。



Three leaf azalea. キリシマミツバツツジ。



Silky wisteria. 山藤。


Violet. フモトスミレ。



Turukijimusiro. ツルキジムシロ。



A kind of gentian. ハルリンドウ。

  2. 硫黄山、ごつごつとした岩の上を歩くのは大変ですよね。池を回るコースがあって良かったです!どの池の水も澄んで美しいですが、特に六観音御池が素晴らしい。山藤も素晴らしいです!

      こんばんは。ありがとうございます。硫黄山から出る硫黄で秋にススキがえび色に変わるので、えびの高原と言われたそうです。
       山藤、自然のままでのびのびしていました。

  8. Minoru, These scenes look like they could be in CO! We only have Gentians blooming here in late summer or fall, when the weather is getting very cool. I love the violet photo and the ponds are so tranquil.

  12. The scenery is very beautiful and relaxing with so many exotic flowers which are new to me. I like that azalea!
    I think those are all lakes as ponds are usually smaller.

      Thank you very much for your comment. I think so ,but each lake has the original name of Ike. Ike means pond in Japanese. Ike is 池、The meanings of the lake and pond are a little bit different in each country.

  13. A wonderful region to have a walk travel and to observe these aspects of nature so lovely captured in photo instants! It must have been 2 and half hours of trip seeing gorgeous places with blue waters at the ponds. The red pines are majestic, the blooms are gorgeous...

  14. えびの高原は高校の修学旅行で行ったきり。池や湖は神秘的な色ですね。ミツバツツジは地名つきのいろいろな種があるようですね。

      こんばんは。私もえびの高原は初めて行きました。2日目は大雨でしたので指宿から霧島温泉に直行しました。もう一度南鹿児島へ戻るのも無粋なので、ここを散策する事にしました。この土地の植物にも会えてよかったです。
