UME OR JAPANESE APRICOT.

There is a famous weeping Japanese apricot garden in the precincts of Tatuo Jinja Shrine in Shizuoka prefecture.
It was called a weeping Japanese apricot garden.

What do you prefer - plum or cherry blossoms? Or is it impossible to answer that question? :)

    1. Hi! I think you are asking differences about plum and Japanese apricot.
Old dictionary says ume is Plum.
Present dictionary says ume is Japanese apricot.
The flowers of ume, plum and apricot are almost same. But The fruits of ume and apricot have hairs in the peel of the fruits.
But the fruits of plum have no hair in the peel of the ones.
      http://www.hana300.com/ume0001.html
you can find the hair by clicking above URL and then click
      「梅 写真集 3」of blue letters.
So ume is Japanese apricot. OK?

    2. I meant 梅 and さくら, but I'm glad you've explained about the difference between the different terms. :)

The English translation of 梅 can be very confusing. Wikipedia (still) says it's "Chinese plum or Japanese apricot, but the flowers are usually called plum blossoms".

梅酒 is translated as "sake with plums".

Maybe I should simply use Japanese. 桜と梅どっちが好きですか?

    3. Dear Rurousha.
The conclusion is cherry blossom. If you would go Yoshino in Nara, You would become to like cherry blossoms very much.

We went Yoshinoyama last year. You will find the most beautiful flowers if you will go there.
